Incorruptible

Incorruptible

The Park Playhouse
1 Edgemere Ave Burlington

Set in medieval times, this bawdy black comedy centers on a rag-tag group of financially irresponsible French monks whose patron saint seems to have deserted them. Desperate for a way to save their monastery from economic ruin, the monks appear to be rescued when a cunning, one-eyed traveling minstrel teaches them an outrageous new way to fill their coffers. In crafting this clever comedy, award-winning playwright Michael Hollinger (Opus) drew inspiration from the true exploits of two feuding French monasteries in the 9th century and the widespread practice of buying, selling, stealing and faking holy relics in the early days of Christianity, when souvenirs from the saints were big business.
